BOIL WATER ADVISORY
September 16, 2024
BOIL ADVISORY
TOWN OF IOWA WATER SYSTEM
PWS ID# 1019026
September 16, 2024
For Immediate Release
The Town of Iowa Water system has experienced problems with our water supply system.
Reggie Street, 700 block of S Kinney, 700 block of S Lightner, 110 Larry A and B,
200, 204, 206, 210, 300, and 306 Larry Street lost water and or water pressure
due to a repair on an 8-inch water main.
Because of this, the water produced by our water supply system is of questionable microbiological quality.
Therefore, as a precaution, the Town of Iowa Water System is issuing a BOIL ADVISORY effective immediately for Reggie Street, 700 block of S Kinney, 700 block of S Lightner, 110 Larry A and B,
200, 204, 206, 210, 300, and 306 Larry Street.
This BOIL ADVISORY is to remain in effect until rescinded by the Water System.
It is recommended that consumers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means:
Boil water for one (1) full minute in a clean container. The one-minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.)
Again, please be sure to disinfect your own water prior to consumption until you have been advised otherwise.
The Town of Iowa Water System will rescind this Boil Advisory upon notification from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals – Office of Public Health that additional water samples collected from our water supply system have shown our water to be safe.
WATER LINE INVENTORY
September 05, 2024
The EPA is requiring the Town of Iowa to report an inventory of all water lines. This includes the customer's line that goes from house to water meter. If you can please contact Roxane Daigle @ 337-582-3535 or at r.daigle@iowala.org. Please include your name, address, and material of pipe. If you are unsure of the type of pipe but know what year your home was built, that can help. If you have a home in the newer subdivisions disregard message. Thank you.
